James J. Klapper retired in 1992 after 30 years service as an aerospace engineer in the U.S. Naval Air Systems Command. He is a resident of Oldsmar, Florida, with his gorgeous wife Vicki, a licensed psychotherapist. His mother, Betty, and his two adult children, Ryan and Tiffany David, are also residents of the Tampa Bay area. His first granddaughter, Cassidy Allana David, was born in August, 1998.
Jim spends his time, health permitting, fishing, hunting, gun collecting and restoring, restoring a 1972 Triumph motorcycle, writing, researching military history, and fiddling around on the internet. And being bossed around by his 2 black cats.
He is the author of "Hands of the People, A Social and Military History of Firearms in America", and has digitized Carlos Botta's famous early history of the American Revolution "The American War". and "Andy Marten's War Diary", the World War II letters of a young National Guardsman.
