Restoration of Kaiser Wilhelm's Shotgun

Shotgun before restoration, after removal of wire and nails

I found the shotgun in a pawnshop in Bellair Bluffs, Florida. As you can see from the first picture, the stock was a mess. Years of use had caused the oil soaked broken ends to rub together and turned them into a black powder that sifted out whenever the gun was handled. Cole's Gun Shop, 1901 Douglas Avenue, Dunedin, Florida, restored the stock, inserting a matching piece of european walnut and carefully matching the finish. The only other components replaced were the sling and fittings, and ramrod, which had been lost. The locks, barrels, and other components are completely original. the fine condition, considering it had 60 plus years of use and abuse, is a tribute to the skill of the gunsmith .
